Cyber Monday wisdom

Posted: Updated:

The new iPad Mini, a 40' LCD TV, an Xbox game console - the many Cyber Monday deals have Americans predicted to spend $1.5 billion, up 20 percent from last year.

"You can miss a customer in a blink if they don't understand what they're getting into, where they're going, how to order, or whatever it may be," said Joe Henkin from marketing and advertising agency Henkin & Schultz.

Henkin says retail stores' websites must help customers make quick, educated decisions. Particularly, on this super big shopping day.

"They want to make sure it's friendly, easy to navigate, easy to order," said Henkin. "Just a checklist of things they want to do to make sure everything is up and working at its best because of the high load of activity they're going to have."

Henkin & Schultz has a number of local clients that participate in Cyber Monday. Henkin says it's important to note that Sioux Falls is a player in online sales.

"We have to remember that Sioux Falls is a major center for fulfillment and for inbound and outbound telemarketing."

Early results show that online shopping is up 25.6 percent compared to this time last year. While that's a positive sign for the economy, Henkin has some parting words of cyber wisdom.

"Nothing replaces good customer service."
