Tonight's Touchstone Energy "Scholar of the Week" is Brian Peterson from Warner High School. Brian has an amazing 4.25 grade point average. Tonight, we talk to him about everything he does to keep such a stellar GPA.
No matter what it involves, if Brian Peterson is faced with a challenge...he works his heart out until that challenge is overcome. Brian plays football for the Warner team and he loves being out on the field...but he is just as passionate if not more so about his life in academics....where he is no stranger to AP classes in Composition and Biology. "Education is just kind of a start for wherever you want to go in life. Education...you have to have some education to get there. It's important to do well cause its kind of the precursor to how you're going to do in life."
Brian has a mind set that he is going to succeed....that failure is not an option...and it is easy to see that attitude if you spend some time with him. Tom Kulesa is Brian's personal finance teacher and his football coach. "Brian is extremely intelligent and that is obvious. But I think what puts him apart from other people is his work ethic. It doesn't matter if its in the classroom of if its manual labor on the football field he has an incredible work ethic."
And in addition to having a good work ethic, he also takes seriously being a good citizen and the idea that in a smaller community....younger kids may look to him as an example. "It's important to set a good example to just be involved and help out the community because its not just about what you do its how you help your community around you."
And for being named our Scholar of the Week, Brian will receive a $100 scholarship from Northern Electric Cooperative...which is a Touchstone Energy cooperative.
