Mitchell settles with transit drivers who sued over discrimination

Posted: Updated:

MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) - The city of Mitchell has reached an undisclosed settlement with three former transit drivers who said they were discriminated against because of their age or medical conditions.

James Nichols, 55, John Robertson, 58, and Curtis Dumas, 57, each sued the city last year. The lawsuits eventually were combined into one case that had been scheduled for trial this week.

Attorneys for the city and the three former drivers reached a settlement after they met in mediation in Sioux Falls on Nov. 19. Both parties have agreed not to reveal the dollar figures.
