South Dakota State University running back Zach Zenner was named Tuesday to the 2012 AFCA Football Championship Subdivision Coaches' All-America Team.
A native of Eagan, Minn., Zenner was one of only two sophomores named to the 25-player All-America team, which is selected by the American Football Coaches Association. During the 2012 season, Zenner rushed for 2,044 yards and currently ranks second in the FCS ranks with an average of 157.2 yards per game.
A candidate for the Walter Payton Award as the top offensive player in the FCS, he topped the 100-yard mark nine times and crossed the 200-yard mark three times, including racking up a school-record 295 yards in a Nov. 24 playoff game against Eastern Illinois.
In helping lead the Jackabbits to their second playoff berth in four years, Zenner averaged 6.8 yards per carry and scored 13 touchdowns on the ground. He added 28 receptions for 197 yards.
