The Augustana women's basketball team continued to climb the polls moving up to No. 7 in the latest USA today Sports Coaches' Poll. The Vikings, now sitting at 5-0, defeated then No.9 Wayne State on Saturday 82-56 and jumped up three spots.
Ashland (Ohio) remains in the top spot followed by Bentley (Mass.). University of South Carolina Aiken and Clayton State (Ga.) each move up one to third and fourth, respectively after Pittsburgh State (Kan.) dropped their first game of the year. University of Indianapolis rounds out the top five in the final spot.
After Pittsburgh State's loss, the Vikings are now the highest ranked team in the central region. They are followed closely by Washburn (Kan.) in eighth and Pittsburgh State at No. 11. Wayne State falls to 15th, Fort Hays State checks in at 17 and Emporia State rounds out the central region in 21st.
The Vikings look to stay undefeated this weekend with two home games. Augustana welcomes Southwest Minnesota State to the Elmen Center on Friday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. and the University of Sioux Falls on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 4 p.m.
