South Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper Andrew Steen, who was hit by a car while in the line of duty, underwent successful brain surgery Wednesday.
According to a post from Colleen Aaron on the CaringBridge journal for Andrew, "Surgery went well, the doctor has already come down to talk to us and is happy with how things went. Andrew is in recovery and will be headed to ICU for a short while to recover from this surgery. Thank you all for praying for Andrew today!"
Andrew, an eight-year veteran of the South Dakota Highway Patrol, was struck by a vehicle in the line of duty following an attempted traffic stop that escalated into a pursuit.
This is Andrew's second brain surgery since the accident on October 17. In mid-October, a portion of Andrew's skull was removed.
