Tonight's Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week is Nathaniel Steinlicht, a senior at Milbank High School. Nathaniel is currently carrying a 3.8 grade point average and is very active in FFA, speech, choir, band and theater and tonight, you're going to meet him and find out what makes him a success.
Nathaniel Steinlicht is a smart guy and it is not by accident. In fact, this year...his senior year...instead of trying to glide by...he intentionally sought out some tough classes...some really tough classes. "I'm taking two AP classes....AP U-S History and AP English Literature. Both of those being advanced placement classes. Those are really helping me prepare for college."
And in addition to those AP classes, Nathaniel thought he would also take chemistry and physics for good measure. Odds are, Nathaniel will do just fine in college. His English teacher at Milbank is Douglas Tschetter, who says Nathaniel is about as good as they come. "Nathaniel is a real good student. He is a good participant in class....is a good class leader...a good thinker...he's always a step ahead of you as he is concentrating on what you're studying and how it applies to the real world."
And what does the real world hold for Nathaniel? Well he tells us, he wants to do something that will make a real difference in the real world. "Well I am hoping to go to college at USD...studying in political science. I've always kind of been interested in how government works but I would like to really do stuff like....where I know I can make a difference."
And for being named our Scholar of the Week, Nathaniel will receive a $100 scholarship from Whetstone Valley Electric Cooperative...which is a local Touchstone Energy cooperative.
