Drivers react to first snow of season in Aberdeen

Posted: Updated:

The snow started falling from the sky in Aberdeen early Friday morning, and it continued throughout Friday evening.

Although there have been no major accumulations by dark, the roads are still dangerous.

Before the evening commute the Aberdeen Police Department had reported more than twenty vehicle accidents.

"A little slippy." Sharia Phillips said.  "My car was doing things it normally does not do."

This being the first snow of the season many drivers had to get readjusted to driving in snow and ice.

"Actually not too bad, I came in and checked the breaks," Kathie Vitense mentioned.  "We have got to be careful, nobody zipping around."

Many drivers that KSFY News spoke with were complimentary of how quickly the county and city was able to clear the main roads.

"The roads are good," Lonnie Styron said.  "County and state are out there plowing them and putting down salt and sand.  Everything is safe."

The Aberdeen area is expected to get even more snow this weekend.
