The Salvation Army and the Walmart on south Louise Avenue teamed up to kick off the Fill The Truck Toy Drive.
The event collects new toys and coats for children who take part in the Salvation Army programs all year round.
Former NFL player and SDSU grad Adam Timmerman joined the cause this year. Walmart and the Salvation Army have been partners for more than 30 years to support people in need.
Last year, local retailers with the Salvation Army raised more than $57,000.
