Robert, Moeller executions cost the state $120,000
In 2012, two South Dakota inmates were executed within two weeks of each other, at the cost $120,000.
In an email to KSFY News, Mark Winder, with the South Dakota Department of Corrections, stated the executions of convicted killers Eric Robert and Donald Moeller each cost the state approximately $60,000.
According to Winder's report, the personal services for Eric Robert cost $43,956.38 and Operating Expenses cost $16,571.49, for a total cost of $60,527.87.
In the Donald Moeller execution, Person Services cost $38,351.56 and Operating Expenses were $22,269.08, for a total of $60,620.64.
Robert and Moeller were executed October 15 and October 30, respectively.
