Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week: Matthew Guthmiller

Posted: Updated:

Tonight's Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week is Matthew Guthmiller of Aberdeen Central High School.

Matthew has a perfect 4.0 grade point average and as you will see, it is absolutely no surprise or accident that Matthew finds himself at the top of his class.

Whenever we profile a student on Scholar of the Week, we always like to get a sense of what classes he or she is taking.
When we asked Matthew Guthmiller what classes he takes....we got a pretty amazing answer. "AP Chemistry, AP Literature...also Honors US Literature. I'm also taking on-line AP microeconomics and as NDSU I'm taking a couple of aviation classes and kind of a scuba diving class as well."

And he is taking difficult class after difficult class and maintaining a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
And those who have had Matthew in class say it is no accident that he is successful and doing well.
Listen to language arts teacher Terra Latterell. "He has a sense of humor but also an excellent scientific and math mind. He uses his humor and passions in class in his progress."

Matthew has his eye on a couple of colleges...all out of state and all names you would recognize:
Stanford, Carnegie-Mellon and MIT. "The main thing is that they all offer really strong computer science programs which is one of my major areas of interest."

And for being named our Scholar of the Week., Matthew will receive a $100 scholarship from Northern Electric Cooperative...which is a local Touchstone Energy cooperative.
