Vigil held to remember 3 young victims of Saturday fire

Posted: Updated:

Nearly 100 friends, family and strangers gathered near the home for a candle-light vigil, Sunday night.

The victims were Michael Hensley, 16, Savannah Coon, 13, and Alivia Coon, 6.

Kalie Rabanales organized the event, shocked by the news. She said seven year-old daughter brought the idea forward after similar vigils were held in Connecticut for kids her age.

She called Alivia Coon, 6, her best friend.

Rabanales and her children made posters with pictures of all three victims of the fire.

"It's just unreal. You can't describe the feeling, no words to describe it. It's just hard," Kalie Rabanales said. "They were wonderful kids. Michael was a good big brother, they were full of joy. It seemed like Alivia always had a tooth missing."

We are told the family is receiving assistance from the Celebrate Community Church, but they still need our help.

A fund has been set up there at 1000 South Sycamore Avenue in Sioux Falls... you can call 605-357-7067.

Friends of the family say any donations including money or gift cards to offset costs are greatly appreciated. A fund is also being set up a local bank, this week, we'll bring you those details as we get them.
