Barricaded suspect in Marion, now in custody

Posted: Updated:

Turner County authorities told KSFY News late on Christmas Eve that the suspect who allegedly barricaded himself in a Marion home is now in custody.

Canisters of tear gas had been shot into a home in Marion, which has been the scene of a stand-off for most of the day.

Those same authorities say Jonathan Mandler had led police on a tri-county car chase before going to his grandmother's home in Marion. For a time, Mandler apparently held his 15 year old cousin hostage before releasing her at 4:30 Monday afternoon.

Negotiators were working all day-- since approximately 9 am Monday-- trying to get Mandler to come out of the home, to no avail.

Mandler his currently being taken to the state penitentiary
