There is lots going on in the Sioux Empire on the first weekend of 2013.
The Sioux Falls Parks and Rec. department is hosting its fourth annual healthy living day on Saturday.
Local fitness and health professionals will be available to help you on your way to a healthier you. It is a free event for all ages. You don't need to register. There will be sample exercise classes including martial arts and zumba. There will also be health screenings and nutritional and health advice. Booths will be open from 10 in the morning and go until noon. Classes start at 10:30 and go until 12:30. It is at the Morningside Community Center on South Bahnson Ave. in Sioux Falls.
Also going on this weekend, the animals at the Great Plains Zoo are getting to celebrate Christmas just a few weeks late. The zoo will be decked out in Christmas decorations, and zoo goers can watch the Asian cats, black rhinos, primates and the animals in the Hy-Vee Face-to-Face farm unwrap some edible presents.It is free for zoo members or with paid admission.
And something else going on Saturday, the Storyland Children's Theatre of Sioux Falls and the Storyland Theatre of Aberdeen will be performing a fun show for kids of all ages. It is a free show at the Oyate Community Center on West 15th street. It starts at 10:00 Saturday morning. It will feature audience participation, classic children's songs and stories that everyone can learn from and enjoy.
