Health education for people getting fit in the new year
Hundreds of people got a kick start with some of those New Years resolutions Saturday morning at the 4th annual Healthy Living Day at the Morningside Community Center.
The event was hosted by the Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation and looked to help people start those resolutions.
The free event provided local health and fitness pros to help people get started off on the right foot.
It included a sample of exercise classes including martial arts and Zumba.
People we talked with said healthy eating and exercise is a way of life.
"I wouldn't say it was really a resolution for me. It wasn't to get fit, I'd say it was more a lifestyle change and something that could go on and on over time and not just make it a one month thing where I end up quitting," Shelby Kontz said.
The event also featured some health screenings and nutritional advice to guarantee a proper start to dropping those unwanted pounds.
