Sioux Falls population grows by 2,500 last year

The City of Sioux Falls has grown to almost 160,000 people, according to its year-end evaluation.

The report estimates the population up to December 31, 2012. The population of just Sioux Falls ticked to 158,800. It is a 2,500-person increase fro last year, according to the City.

The City credits the steady, efficient growth to increases in employment, quality parks and schools, low crime rates, and an excellent transportation network.

Sioux Falls' population has grown by more than 24,000 people over the last 10 years.
