RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - The president of the Oglala Sioux Tribe is scheduled to undergo surgery on Wednesday to repair a broken pelvis.
The injury is a result of a one-vehicle accident that occurred on Dec. 29 when Bryan Brewer was driving on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in western South Dakota. Brewer was transferred to Rapid City Regional Hospital with a broken pelvis and broken ribs.
Brewer, who recently moved to the rehabilitation unit of the hospital, was expected to be released next week. But spokeswoman Toni Red Cloud says Brewer will now be released at a later date to allow time for him to recover.
