Valley Springs man sentenced 67 years for child rape charges

A Valley Springs man will likely spend the rest of his life in prison for the rape and sexual contact with a child.

Kevin Buchholtz, 57, was sentenced to 67 years in prison, with 7 of those years suspended. Buchholtz has been found guilt of two counts of rape in the first degree, one count of sexual contact with a child and one count of indecent exposure involving a child.

He was convicted of the crimes after a week long jury trial, where the now 7-year-old victim testified to the events that occurred in June 2011 at a trailer court in Valley Springs.

Buchholtz was facing up to life in prison.
