Daugaard's comments to wife provide humor for State of the State

South Dakota First Lady Linda Daugaard was recognized by Lieutenant Governor Matt Mechels in his opening statements in today's State of the State address.

The First Lady is an advocate for breast cancer, and literacy in South Dakota.

After the initial opening statements, Governor Daugaard made sure she knew where the compliments really came from. "For those keeping track for how long my speech will be. It just started right now. It does not include the Lt.Governor's generous remarks about my wife as I wrote them...honey?"

The First Lady has been a familiar face in South Dakota schools since her husband took office.
