Oak Mountain Development back on well's water

Posted: Updated:

DEADWOOD, S.D. (AP) - The Oak Mountain Development's water treatment plant near Deadwood is running again after a holiday shutdown that required $12,000 in repairs.

The development in Boulder Canyon purchases its water from a well owned by the city of Deadwood.

The well was not drawing enough water because calcified mineral material was blocking the flow into the well casing.

Public Works Director JR Raysor says a pump was removed, high pressure aeration was used to remove the mineral deposits and the pump was dropped back in.

The 37 homes in Oak Mountain were put back on the development's old well during the time the new well was fixed.
