Former South Dakota gov portrait back on display in Capitol

Posted: Updated:

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - A portrait of South Dakota's 14th governor is back on display in the state Capitol after being refurbished.

The portrait of former Gov. Tom Berry was placed back on the north wall of the Capitol's first floor hallway on Wednesday after a three-month absence. The portrait was one of seven that have been cleaned and refurbished in recent years at the Midwest Art Conservation Center in Minneapolis.

The portrait portrays the smiling governor in a cowboy hat and suit with a blue sky backdrop.

Berry served from 1933-37.
