Study: drinking pop can trigger depression

Posted: Updated:

We've long been told that sweet drinks are bad for our teeth --  and our waistlines.

But they may also be messing with our brains.

Researchers at the National Institutes of Health studied nearly 300,000 people and found that those who drank more than four cans or cups of soda per day were 30% more likely to be diagnosed with depression.

And don't think if you drink diet cola you're safe.

 Studies showed higher depression numbers.

Coffee on the other hand? Those who added some java in their day were 10% less likely to be depressed.
