Madison man could face federal charges for counterfeit dollar bills
A Madison man could face federal charges for trying to make change with a fake twenty dollar bill in Sioux Falls.
Adrian Logan, 25, was arrested Thursday for one count of possession of a forged instrument.
Just after 3:00pm Thursday, an employee of La Tapatia flagged down officers driving by the store near the 600-block of West 11th Street in Sioux Falls. The store employee pointed officers to Logan's vehicle, which was pulling away.
The worker told police Logan bought a pop with a twenty dollar bill and received change. Logan then asked for change for another twenty dollar bill. Although, the employee noticed the bill had no security markings on it and neither did the first one.
Police caught up with Logan and after searching his vehicle they found two more counterfeit twenty dollar bills and four counterfeit fifty dollar bills.
Sioux Falls Police Spokesman Sam Clemens said anytime there is a case involving counterfeit money the Secret Service is notified.
Clemens said it is possible federal charges could come from the incident.
