The ground shook in Garretson Friday after an explosion at the Garretson Eastern Farmer's Co-op.
Garretson's fire chief says workers at the grain elevator were welding a fertilizer tank, which prompted the blast.
The blast blew off the top of the fertilizer tank; witnesses say flames could be seen coming out of the tank. The fire chief says the fire was extinguished after only about 15 minutes.
Although several workers were very close to the explosion, no one was injured.
But the explosion was enough to rock the whole town. People dining a restaurant across the street from the Co-op said the explosion shook the entire building, shaking the hanging lights and wall hangings.
