And now a new crop of students will learn about the late George McGovern.
Sioux Falls' newest public school will be named after the influential politician.
The future George McGovern Middle School is located on Maple Street in northwest Sioux Falls, just north of Marion Road. His grandson Matt spoke with KSFY News about the decision. "I was just so happy to hear that the school board made this decision, and it's a real honor from the community to have the school board vote to name the school after my Grandpa. I think he would have loved it."
George McGovern Middle School will open in August of 2014.
