The value in staying mobile is often under-appreciated... to go where you want on your own two feet is something that not everyone has the ability to do.
In an effort to keep everyone mobile, Sioux Falls' Rotary Club and Hope Haven were awarded a nearly $58,000 grant for their wheelchair program.
Hope Haven CEO David VanNingen says the money will be used to acquire, repair, and deliver hundreds of medical aids throughout the world to the disadvantaged. "Through the Rotary Club we will be able to help children and adults with mobility problems. They'll be able to get jobs, go to school, attend activities with their families. For many of them it'll mean the difference of staying inside all day or going out and enjoying creation."
Hope Haven has been donating wheelchairs internationally since 1994. Earlier this month they delivered their 100,000th wheelchair.
