Crews finally able to investigate site of fatal fire in Sioux Falls

Posted: Updated:

Fire investigators are finally able to investigate a fire that killed three children one month ago in Sioux Falls.

The fire broke out at approximately 8:00 am Saturday, December 22. Three children who lived in the home—Michael Hensely, 16, Savannah Coon, 12, and Alivia Coon, 6—were found dead in a room on the second floor.

For the last month, the structural remains were too weak at the home at 1100 North Main in Sioux Falls, so crews were not allowed inside.

Sioux Falls Fire Marshal Dean Lanier said the investigation started Tuesday morning. Lanier said he will receive an update later Tuesday, but Lanier said he is unsure if there would be any new information to release.
