Coming into the 2012 basketball season, Sioux Falls Christian wasn't a team most people were talking about, and coach Mike Schouten was perfectly fine with that.
"I didn't mind being under the radar a little bit when the season started. I thought we would have a pretty good team this year." said head coach Mike Schouten
But it's hard not to notice the Chargers now. Led by a core of seniors that have played together since they were little kids, their fast-paced run and gun style and a bond years in the making have them unbeaten so far this season.
"I've played with all of the seniors since I was in second grade so yeah that really helps. Cause we know each others chemistries and rhythms." said senior guard Brandon Eide.
"We know where we're gonna be on the court. Half the time I don't even need to look where the guy is. It's a lot of fun playing at that high of a level and knowing where the guy is going to be." said senior guard Cody Van Holland
And while this close-knit group has it's share of fun, their main focus is improving.
"It's fun going to practice every day and goofing around with your brothers but you know getting the job done and knowing what we have to do to get ready for the next game." said senior guard Spencer Coulter
And for this veteran team, they know, if they want their first ever state championship, the time is now.
"All the seniors wanna go out with a bang and know that if they play well as a team, good things will come." Schouten said.
