Sioux Falls Mayor to announce City's top 10 accomplishments
Sioux Falls Mayor Mike Huether is set to announce the top ten accomplishments Sioux Falls City government achieved in 2012.
Huether is holding a press conference Tuesday, January 29 at 10:30 in the City Hall Commission Room to present the achievements. Huether will present a countdown of 2012's top feats, along with each individual City department's top five accomplishments of the year.
"2012 was such a great year for Sioux Falls and we tackled so many big things," Huether stated in news release. "The 1,100 City employees achieved so much for the people of our town, and I want to take a brief moment to reflect upon it."
Here's a look at the City's top accomplishments of 2011, according to Mayor Huether:
40,091 concerned Sioux Falls citizens voted in the special election on the proposed Events Center!
Employment numbers are strong and the city's infrastructure is a source of pride.
More money added to city's piggy bank.
Downtown Sioux Falls is on the move.
The proposed Events Center made great progress.
Sioux Falls is becoming the first choice for flying again.
Business acumen is being incorporated into City government and taxpayers are reaping the rewards.
Successfully negotiated two-year labor contracts with each of the three labor organizations.
Additional recreation needs are being met.
City's commercial development, planning, and zoning processes were strengthened.
