Sioux Falls Schools, Catholic Schools cancel classes Thursday

Posted: Updated:

The Sioux Falls School District and Sioux Falls Catholic Schools announced classes would be cancelled Thursday, because of the dangerously cold temperatures.

Temperatures will continue to drop Wednesday night. Overnight lows will range from - 8 in Sioux Falls to around -20 across northern South Dakota. The wind chill will hover from -30 to -45 through Wednesday night. Expect more of the same Thursday. Wind and below zero highs will keep the wind chill factor in the -30 to -40 range for most of the day.

Temps will hit rock bottom on Friday morning, ranging from around -10 in Sioux Falls to -25 across northern South Dakota. Fortunately, the wind will die down by then. The good news in the forecast is that we will bounce back quickly.

On Saturday and Sunday high temperatures will be back in the mid to upper 30s.
