The streets will be a bit brighter in one Sioux Falls neighborhood.
Today the Pettigrew Heights Neighborhood Association held a news conference about the different ways to improve the area.
After meeting with several city representatives the community learned better lighting could help reduce crime in the area. A new lighting system is in the works for this year. Catheryn Henning with the Pettigrew Heights Association tells KSFY, "We have a neighbor who told us a few years ago we had a light installed and in the past before the survey he had seen burglars. Since then he had not seen any burglars at all. So we're looking forward to bring this kind of safety to other Pettigrew neighborhood members."
Pettigrew has had a fair share of crime-related issues in the area, but representatives hope brighter streets will serve as a deterrent for trouble makers.
