Hood's Teacher of the Year

The ‘Hood Magazine Teacher of the Year was announced this morning on the KSFY Morning. Publisher and President of the magazine, Steffanie Liston-Holtrop stopped by the studio to make the announcement that Mrs. Tonda Kirton was the winner. 

Mrs. Kirton was nominated by her student Macy Rott. Macy is a 5th grader at Journey Elementary in the Harrisburg school district. 

 This is the first year that ‘Hood Magazine launched this recognition.

Nominations were submitted by students from preschool, elementary  and middle schools in the area. The winner was chosen by a selection committee made up of ‘Hood Magazine team members. The finalists were selected based on the following criteria:  inspiration to students, non-traditional ways of teaching and involvement in activities throughout the school.
