No. 15 Vikings cruise by Minot State for second straight win

MINOT, N.D. – No. 15-ranked Augustana won its second straight dual on Sunday afternoon picking up a 29-15 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference victory over Minot State. Augustana (9-5, 4-2 NSIC) secured pins at 141 and 197 pounds to pull away from the Beavers (1-13, 0-6 NSIC).

The Vikings jumped out to a 6-0 lead right away when TJ North won by forfeit at 125 pounds. Jeremiah Peterson pushed the Vikings' lead to 9-0 after winning an 8-4 decision over Matt Ruby at 133 pounds.

Brandon Charbonneau delivered his sixth pin of the season taking down Minot State's Flynn Stormer in 1:06 at 141 pounds pushing Augustana's lead up to 15-0.

At 149 pounds, third-ranked Nate Herda looked to make quick work with Marcus Wilson as the senior went on to win by tech. fall (18-3) moving the team score to 20-0.

Augustana won its fifth straight bout of the dual at 157 pounds after Shawn Hatlestad earned an 8-4 decision over Marcus Polak pushing the lead to 23-0.

Minot State won three straight decisions at 165, 174 and 184 pounds before sixth-ranked Jayd Docken pinned Minot State's Joe Johnson at 1:36 in the 197-pound bout to make the score 29-9 in favor of the Vikings.

Augustana went open at 285 pounds and the Vikings would go on to win the dual 29-15 over Minot State.

Augustana returns home next Friday night hosting No. 6 Upper Iowa at 7 p.m.
