President Obama took his message of curbing gun violence to Minnesota today.
It was the President's first stop pitching his hopes for gun reform outside Washington.
Before delivering remarks on the action he hopes Congress will take, the commander-in-chief met with law enforcement and community leaders at the Minneapolis Police Department Special Operations Center. The president says limiting access to some weapons, or requiring a background check during weapons purchases, are common sense measures that have support of the public.
Both Minnesota lawmakers and members of law enforcement have been studying ways to reduce gun-related incidents for several years.
