A Chicago man accused of running an online prostitution ring out of Sioux Falls is on trial in federal court in Sioux Falls this week.
Carl Campbell is accused of knowingly and intentionally recruiting minors and adults into a sex trafficking operation. His jury trial started Tuesday.
Campbell is charged with aiding and abetting sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, sex trafficking of a child, interstate transport for sex trafficking and obstruction of sexual trafficking enforcement.
The alleged acts Campbell is charged for happened from September 2009 to October 2011 and crossed state lines.
Campbell could spend the rest of his life in prison if convicted.
