Traffic was re-routed for nearly 2 hours on Thursday after a crash on Interstate 29.
It happened near the Davis exit, near the union-Lincoln county line.
The highway patrol says a pickup traveling southbound was clipped by a semi that was trying to pass the pickup.
The semi lost control and jack-knifed, blocking the southbound lanes.
A passenger in the pickup was thrown from the vehicle and is in serious but stable condition.
Both drivers have minor injuries.
Southbound traffic was re-routed on a three mile detour for two hours.
