Sioux Falls Police say around 10:00 Monday night they were called to the Avera McKenan hospital E.R for a victim of a stabbing. Police say the victim is a 19-year-old man with a stab wound to his abdomen.
The victim told police he was with some friends outside of Mercato's store, located at , 631 W 11th Street when he was approached by a Hispanic man. He says the suspect asked him for some money. When the victim said he didn't have any he says the suspect took out a knife and told him to give him his money. The victim says he told the suspect again he did not have any money at which time he says the suspect stabbed him in the abdomen and then took off west bound.
The victim describes the suspect as a man around 18-years-old, around 5'7", 135 lbs, with short curly dark hair. He says he was wearing a dark colored jacket, tan khaki pants, black shoes, and had a black folding knife with a 4" black blade.
The victim was transported to the hospital by his friends. He was treated for a non-life threatening injury and kept for observation. This incident is still under investigation.
