We continue our weekly series called "Does It Work? Nancy Naeve Brown is testing those "As Seen on TV" products and this time she tries something to stop barking dogs and in case you didn't know, there's a lot of dogs in her house.
I have 4 dogs; Lucy and George are the worst of them when it comes to barking. When they start they usually get Ned to join in. Charlie is so shy he will just pee. Here's what the commercial promises with the bark off.
"Bark Off, the ingenious, ultrasonic training aid that allows you to take control over your dogs nuisance barking. Just switch on the Bark Off device and an ultrasonic signal, inaudible to human ears, instantly captures your dogs' attention. It's activated by barking. It features two sensitivity levels, can be wall mounted or carried. It works up to 20 feet away. "
I turned it on, so I thought, rang the doorbell and boy did they go crazy. I was holding the bark off in my hand and it is supposed to work up to 20 feet away. The barking continued.
Since you can't really tell if the ultra sound waves are coming out, so out of curiosity, Nancy had our Chief Engineer make sure the bark off tool was indeed working. Turns out, it wasn't. The connector to the battery didn't work so no power was coming out. It's pretty hard to live up the claims when it won't turn on. Save your 10 dollars.
