INDIANAPOLIS - The Augustana women's basketball team dropped five spots to No. 23 in the latest USA Today Sports Coaches Poll released by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association on Tuesday afternoon.
The Vikings split games on the road last week and now own a 17-5 overall record. Augustana received 83 points, placing them 23rd in the poll.
The fourth- and fifth-ranked teams lost causing a shakeup in the top portion of the poll. Ashland (Ohio) garnered all 31 first-place votes and remains the unanimous No. 1 team. Bentley (Mass.) and Clayton State (Ga.) remain undefeated and ranked second and third. Reappearing in the top five, Colorado Mesa jumps to fourth and Holy Family (Pa.) comes in fifth.
The Vikings are the highest team from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference in the rankings followed by Minnesota State at No. 25.
Washburn (Kan.) and Central Missouri remain the top teams from the Central Region, ranked sixth and seventh, respectively.
The Vikings close out a four-game road trip this weekend beginning with Sioux Falls on Friday and Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday.
