New Drive 2 Help Project for the Helpline Center

Posted: Updated:

The Helpline Center in Sioux Falls is hoping area drivers will join their Drive 2 Help campaign.

The Helpline Center helps thousands of people every year, connect with the right program or service they need for help with various problems.

People looking for help are able to call, 2-1-1. That number is answered 24-hours-a-day, 365 days a year. People can also call that number to find information about child care and volunteer information.

A new initiative was announced on Monday in honor of National 2-1-1 Day. Officials at the Helpline Center are hoping to get 2,011 volunteers, over the next 211 days, to put 2-1-1 magnets on their vehicles. Organizers say the point of the magnets is to let as many people as possible know that help is always available for them. Whether that person needs child care, or is in the middle of a major crisis, organizers hope people will spot these magnets and remember that help is available for them.

You can sign up as a Drive 2 Help volunteer at www.helplinecenter.org. There is a link to that site on the left side of your screen. The Sioux Falls Police Department has already signed on for Drive 2 Help and will put 2-1-1 magnets on their vehicles.
