Posted: Updated:

VERMILLION, S.D. – The University of South Dakota will host "Conrad Adam Night" at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16 during the Coyotes men's basketball game vs. Fort Wayne at the DakotaDome.

Adam, a 6-5 junior at T.F. Riggs High School in Pierre, is fighting osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. He underwent surgery in October that required the amputation of his left leg above the knee. Because basketball has been an important part of Conrad's life and his family has strong ties to the University of South Dakota (his sister, Katherine, is a freshman at USD and his parents, Karl and Joan Adam of Pierre, are also USD graduates), Coyote Athletics and USD President James W. Abbott wanted to honor Conrad and help raise money for his battle with osteosarcoma. , S.D.

"Since basketball has played a significant role in Conrad's life, we wanted to do something with Coyote men's basketball and the USD community to show our support for Conrad, who has been very courageous in this fight," Abbott said.

USD and Classic Hits 106.3 (KVHT), the Coyote Radio Network, have partnered to help raise money for Conrad and his family with several activities, including a basketball "Dribble-A-Thon," a nonstop dribbling marathon that begins Thursday, Feb. 14 with a goal of raising money through pledges; "Coyotes & Conrad" bracelets available for a $5 donation by the concession area; and a celebrity cash cube at halftime featuring  Abbott, Head Football Coach Joe Glenn, Charlie Coyote and Athletics Director David Herbster. Coyote Athletics will dedicate $2 per ticket for new ticket sales for the game on Feb. 16 to Conrad's fund.

"Coyotes & Conrad" bracelets are available on-line at The bracelet features Conrad's special inspirational message "No One Fights Alone".  Bracelets with a game ticket can be picked up at the south box office at the DakotaDome. You can learn more about Conrad's fight against cancer at and at
