LAPD: Extra security for Dorner targets until positive ID is made

Posted: Updated:

We continue to follow a developing story out of Los Angeles...in his alleged online manifesto, Christopher Dorner promised to continue killing officers and their families... in retaliation for being fired from the LAPD.

But his weeklong killing spree likely came to a fiery end last night.

The fugitive ex-cop is apparently dead. Authorities believe it's his charred body that was found inside the ruins of a cabin in San Bernardino County yesterday. Authorities tracked Dorner there after a firefight during which a sheriff's deputy was killed. But Lieutenant Andy Neiman with the LAPD says security details will remain for about a dozen families Dorner had threatened - until
there's a positive I-D on the body in the cabin. "The investigation into the Dorner incidents and the homicides related to Christopher Dorner continue. And that will continue until the investigators have completed everything they need to do related to that."

Meanwhile, funeral services were held this morning for Michael Crain, the Riverside officer Dorner is accused of gunning down last week.
