Tonight's Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week is Sierra Svatos of Andes Central High School.
She has a 3.98 grade point average.
And when she is done with high school...and then eventually college...she says she is going to try and balance three careers all at the same time.
Sierra Svatos tells us, her typical school is jammed pack from start to finish. "I am in biology two....government....personal finance."
And also in there....pre-calculus and government classes. And she's not just taking this heavy of a class load to build an impressive academic resume. A lot of these classes will directly take her to the next step of her life. "Biology Two is really going to help me. because it's working with the body and learning about muscles and everything."
We'll tell you how Biology Two will help Sierra in just a second...but first, I want you to hear what math teacher Brice Bultje has to say about how sierra helps others. "Sierra is a very self-motivated student You give her a task and she gets it done well before the deadline is even up she's very outgoing, she's willing to help the other students to meet their goals as well as her own."
And it is that drive....and her interests in medicine....that will propel her to the next step...and judging from what she told us...she is going to be busy. "I plan on going to Northeast at Norfolk, Nebraska for two years ....I'm hoping for vet tech and then after I graduate for that I plan to return to Northeast to do two years in nursing."
And not only does Sierra plan on working both as a nurse and a vet tech....but she is also working to grow part of her family's cattle herd....which she intends on taking care of following college. For being named our Scholar of the Week, Sierra will receive a $100 scholarship from Charles Mix Electric Association....which is a local Touchstone Energy cooperative.
