A mid-day crash at a busy Sioux Falls intersection has left one person dead.
Police say at least seven cars were involved in the crash at 41st Street and Minnesota Avenue.
With the number of cars involved -- it almost looks like a scene out of a movie.
Police are still working to determine the cause of the accident.
But what they've gathered so far is it started with a Chevy Blazer headed north on Minnesota at a high rate of speed.
This fatal accident happened right before noon today when a Chevy Blazer struck a Dodge Durango from behind -- just south of 41st Street.
The Chevy struck a sign for Taylor's pantry before it ended up in the parking lot here at the corner of 41st and Minnesota.
One eyewitness, Amber Sigler, actually heard the accident before she saw it. "I first just heard it and it was a loud, loud, loud boom. It was super loud. I look over and it was just car pieces and everything blowing everywhere in the air. It looked as though the car went through the gas station sign and was almost rolling or flipping in the air to the gas station parking lot."
One car part spotted here at the scene was a baby's car seat.
Police have not identified the victim of the accident.
And police say investigators will have to look at the skid marks and gauges in the road as well as the damage done to the cars involved in the accident to figure out just how fast the Chevy Blazer was going.
If you've driven in the area of 41st and Minnesota -- you know it's a busy intersection.
Police say the speed limit on Minnesota is thirty miles per hour.
And while we have had some serious car accidents in the city -- they say it's been a while since they've seen anything like this.
