Interstate 29 near the Highway 12 exit was a dangerous place to be Monday.
Driving conditions were terrible as huge gusts of wind kicked up snow creating white-out effects.
The roads were so terrible many drivers had to pull off into gas stations or parking-lots.
"Just pulled over into the Summit truck stop," David Cordts said. "Going to wait it out, and hopefully the winds die down."
Cordts was on his way from Elizabeth, North Dakota to Sioux Falls and needed to be there for a meeting.
"Hopefully I can leave later or maybe tomorrow morning."
Cordts was not the only traveler to take the safer route and wait.
At around two in the afternoon more than a dozen drivers had pulled off at the Summit truck stop to pass the time until the hazardous driving conditions ceased.
