Gov. Daugaard declares Wednesday as South Dakota Civil Air Patrol Day

Posted: Updated:

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - Gov. Dennis Daugaard has declared Wednesday as South Dakota Civil Air Patrol Day.

Daugaard signed the proclamation establishing the day as a way to recognize the hard work and volunteer hours that the members of the Civil Air Patrol put in during missions for local, state, tribal and federal governments.

Col. John Seten is the South Dakota wing commander. He and others will be at the Legislature on Wednesday to share their stories with lawmakers.

He says it's important for the public to understand that the Civil Air Patrol helps stretch the resources of the state and saves it money through the use of well-trained volunteers.
