South Dakotans gathered in Sioux Falls today to learn the intricacies of a possible Medicaid expansion in the state.
Medicaid is something not everyone in the state can afford.
And tomorrow in Pierre legislators will hear from people all over the state on their concerns regarding the expansion.
Today's seminar helped break down what is necessary for affordable healthcare. Joy Smolnisky with the South Dakota Budget and Policy Project tells us, "Just like everything else in life, to get something you have to pay for it, so we take a look at what would we have to pay and how much it would cost us as South Dakotans. So all our citizens can have access to affordable health insurance."
The hearing is set for Wednesday morning.
The bill passed a state affairs committee last Friday in an 11 to 2 vote.
