Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation believes the city needs a new pool, serving competitive, recreational, instructional, fitness, and therapy. Now the question - does the community agree?
After a series of focus groups and listening to public input, an aquatic facilities master plan has been put together. There are six options on the table: an outdoor spray pool, a small aquatic center, a medium aquatic center, an indoor pool, a large indoor pool, and a 50 meter Olympic indoor pool.
"Our goal was to look at potential users, existing users, also other providers making sure we fit into an existing system to complement and enhance what we already have, not just duplicate efforts," said Kevin Post of Counsilman-Hunsaker & Associates.
This plan will next be presented at a public open house in March. A final recommendation for a facility will be made in May.
