The driver of a semi could be charged for what lead to an accident with an SUV near the Castlewood exit on Interstate 29.
The Hamlin County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the incident at approximately 6:40pm Tuesday evening. The accident was at the on/off ramp of the southbound lane of Interstate 29.
The SUV driver, a 45-year-old rural Hazel man, and four other juvenile passengers sustained injuries in the crash. They were taken to the hospital by the Castlewood and Clear Lake Ambulance.
The semi driver, a 45-year-old man from Fargo, ND, was not injured. The semi driver has charges pending for Stop Sign Violation, according to a news release from the Hamlin County Sheriff's Office.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol and the Castlewood Fire Department were also on the scene. The accident is still under investigation.
