All this month on Wednesday's at 5:00 Nancy Naeve Brown is doing a little product testing. She bought a bunch of those "As Seen on TV" items to see if they live up to all the hype. This time she is testing the OrGREENic Frying Pan. It's supposed to cut down on calories because you aren't using oils to cook with and clean up is supposed to be a wiz because nothing sticks or does it?

The OrGREENic Frying Pan promises a lot of things like nothing will stick. Here's what the commercial claims.

"Stay green and grease-free with the As Seen on TV OrGREENic Frying Pan. A multi-use, non-stick frying pan, you can use this eco-friendly marvel to broil, bake, braise and more. With a unique ceramic, non-stick surface, you can use the OrGREENic Frying Pan to cook for yourself and your family without oil, butter or grease. The As Seen on TV OrGREENic Frying Pan has a unique easy-to-manipulate ergonomic handle design that stays cool during cooking. PTFE-free and green in construction, this OrGREENic Frying Pan is healthy and eco-conscious. Gone are the days of so-called non-stick pans requiring greasing agents that take hours to clean. With this ceramic-coated As Seen on TV OrGREENic Frying Pan, you can rely on one pan for all your essential cooking without added ingredients, chemicals, or lots of washing time."

We'll start by frying up a slice of Kraft American Cheese. We watch it burn and no problem getting it out of the pan. We wiped the pan off and tried frying an egg sans melted butter. And it did not slide around like it did in the commercial. In fact it was burned to the pan. So I don't know if it's because it wasn't the first food cooked after it was seasoned (before using it there are instructions to season it. Put vegetable oil in the pan, cook on medium heat until the oil smokes, removed from heat, let cool and wipe excess oil off but that egg needed to be scraped off. It did not slide around the pan like it shows in the commercial and I did have to scrub to get it clean.  I have to give it a thumbs down.
It costs $19.99 and did not live up to the promises of not sticking without butter or oil.
